Title
Do I need to conduct weekly or daily RAT testing before coming to campus ?
Text Area

The University has not imposed any mandatory RAT testing requirement for staff, students or members who have fulfilled the vaccination requirements. Members who have medical exemption certificate are required to have regular RAT every 14 days to renew their CAP. However, the University highly recommends all members to undergo RAT test first thing in the morning at home and only return to campus upon receiving a negative result in the following situations:

  • feeling unwell or have any COVID-19 symptoms (e.g. fever, cough or sore throat)
  • sharing an office cluster/area with a confirmed case
  • had face-to-face close contacts with the confirmed case without wearing a mask (tracing period is counted from two days before the confirmed case was test positive) should undergo 7 days RAT tests (count from last contact date)

What should I do if I feel unwell?
Text Area

If you feel sick and have respiratory symptoms, with or without fever, conduct a RAT test immediately to see if the health condition may be related to COVID-19. If the result is negative, there is still a chance that your are infected with COVID-19.  RAT has its limitations in terms of sensitivity, a negative result of RAT should not be fully trusted as it may lead to a false sense of security. A single negative RAT result cannot preclude the possibility that you has been infected but during the period of incubation, or at an early stage of infection. You should remain vigilant, maintain all personal protection measures, including wearing masks properly and keep social distancing, take all anti-epidemic measures when you go out. You must consult a doctor promptly and should stay at home or student hall and avoid going to crowded places.

If there is any chance that you develop COVID-19 warning symptoms (e.g. persistent fever 38.5°C for more than 2 days despite fever-reducing medicine, onset of difficulty breathing, chest pain, etc.) or acute illness, you should go to the Accident and Emergency facility of the nearest hospital as soon as possible. The one closest to our campus is Tseung Kwan O Hospital at Hang Hau. The hospital will provide laboratory testing for COVID-19 if appropriate.

Title
What did the University do to protect our campus from COVID-19?
Text Area

A COVID-19 Task Force led by the President and Vice-Presidents has been established to coordinate the University's efforts to protect our campus community.  The Task Force is closely monitoring the development of the COVID-19 situation and taking appropriate actions to respond.

To ensure campus environmental hygiene, the Campus Management Office (CMO) has already stepped up cleaning of communal areas and refilling of disinfectant hand-rub dispensers around campus.  Efforts are also being made to provide additional hand-rub dispensers at various locations on campus.  Public areas, elevators and lifts cleaning have been escalated.  The Student Housing and Residential Life Office (SHRLO) and Staff Housing Team have strengthened cleaning of student halls and staff quarters respectively, and cleaning has also been stepped up by caterers throughout the campus canteens.

Many other administrative and operational measures are put in place to keep up with the latest development of the epidemic situation and be in line with the Government’s anti-epidemic measures, and relevant information can be found in the rest of this webpage.

Title
Do I need to wear a face mask on campus and how about its supply?
Text Area

Following the enforcement of Cap 599I Prevention and Control of Disease (Wearing of Mask) Regulation, all student and staff should wear a face mask when they are in public areas on campus at all times, unless the person is engaged in any physical activity in outdoor area that may reasonably be regarded as strenuous for him/her.

People who use face masks are reminded to use and dispose of them properly according to Centre for Health Protection advice (Proper Use of Masks).  The University has added some signposted mask disposal bins on campus, the location of which can be found here.
